Coastal Environment Guide for sustainable tourists to the coastal biotopes of Cavallino Treporti

The territory of Cavallino – Treporti is made up of a long peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water and extending for approximately 15 km. On the North side it overlooks the Venice Lagoon, while the South side overlooks the Adriatic Sea.
Being positioned between two such different environments (lagoon and marine) allows the Cavallino – Treporti peninsula to have different characteristics in its various portions: in the northern part of the peninsula, towards the lagoon, the typical valley environments are found (” fishing valleys”, lagoon canals, salt marshes), connected with the main waterways of lagoon traffic; in the central part of the peninsula there are crops, in which horticulture prevails (there are also numerous greenhouses), favored by the presence of sandy soil; in the
southern part (towards the sea) there is the typical environment of the sandy coast, with beaches and dunes.
